Renée P. Lewis, MA has resided in California since 2012. She relocated from the Southeast US, where she worked in a variety of roles to include leadership in programs
supporting people receiving community mental health services, dual diagnosis residential services, developmental disabilities services, crisis services, and traumatic
brain injury services. Ms. Lewis has developed curricula regarding developmental disabilities for the CIT Law Enforcement Training Program in Georgia and for crisis
intervention supports in Alabama. She most recently worked in a leadership role at Frank D. Lanterman Regional Center in Los Angeles. She holds a bachelor’s degree in
psychology and a master’s degree in clinical psychology from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Ms. Lewis has devoted her 25-plus year career to improving the lives of
people with disabilities and mental health disorders. She believes wholeheartedly in eliminating the stigma of mental illness and ensuring that people with mental health and
developmental challenges are embraced by society as valuable and respected members of the community. She has three adult children and she enjoys reading, art
museums, movies, and a variety of music genres. Ms. Lewis was once told that “she could not save the world.” She stated, “Yes, I can… One person at a time.”
